Golnit offers a large variety of absorbable sutures for all types of surgical applications from U.S.P. size 6 to 8-0. The absorption profile of the absorbable sutures ranges from 42 days (e.g. PGA Rapid) to 210 days (e.g. PDO) depending on the polymer characteristics. The sutures may be braided or monofilament.
The table below compares the retention strength and absorption days of the absorbable sutures. All Golnit sutures comply with the U.S.P. (United States Pharmacopeia) and E.P. (European Pharmacopeia) standards.

ProductRetention strengthAbsorption (days)
PGA 65% after two weeks60-90 days
PGA RAPID50% after a week42 days
PGLA60% after two weeks90 days
PGLA RAPID 45% after a week42 days

POLIGLECAPRONE 25 suture

POLIGLECAPRONE 25 suture is a monofilament synthetic absorbable surgical suture prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone. Poliglecaprone 25 copolymer has been found to be nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicits only a slight tissue reaction during absorption. The sutures are available dyed (violet) and undyed. POLIGLECAPRONE 25 suture is a monofilament which elicits a minimal […]

PGA suture

Coated PGA suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of polyglycolic acid, coated with a mixture composed of polycaprolactone and calcium stearate of vegetable origin. The copolymers used in this product have been found to be nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption. The sutures are available dyed and […]

POLYDIOXANONE sutures

Polydioxanone or PDO is monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is prepared from the polyester, poly(p-dioxanone). Polydioxanone polymer has been found to be nonallergenic, nonpyrogenic and elicits only a slight tissue reaction during absorption. The sutures are available dyed (violet). In vivo performance of absorbable sutures is described by tensile strength retention and absorption rate (loss of […]

CHROMIC CATGUT

Chromic Catgut suture is an absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the serosal layer of beef (bovine). Catgut sutures (both Plain and Chromic) are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues. […]

PLAIN CATGUT

Plain Catgut suture is an absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the serosal layer of beef (bovine).  Catgut sutures (both Plain and Chromic) are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues. […]

PGLA RAPID sutures

Coated PGLA Rapid suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The characteristic rapid loss of strength is achieved by use of a polymer material with a lower molecular weight than regular PGLA (polyglactin 910) suture. PGLA Rapid are obtained by coating the braided […]

PGLA sutures

Golnit PGLA Suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with calcium stearate and 30:70 poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide). The copolymers used in this product have been found to be nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption. The sutures are […]

PGA RAPID suture

Coated PGA Rapid suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture made of polymers of 100% Polyglycolic Acid, degraded for quicker absorption. The thread is available undyed (beige) and dyed (violet). It is non-antigenic and non-pyrogenic. The braided threads are coated with Calcium Stearate and Polycaprolactone. This coating material provides non-capillarity and enables the suture […]
